Less than an hour away from Futuroscope and just outside the Brenne and Limousin regions lies the town of Montmorillon, nestling in the green and undulating countryside.
The Cité de l'Ecrit et des Métiers du Livre is a dive into the world of books in the heart of the medieval district of Montmorillon! A timeless place that will delight readers, art lovers, collectors of rare works and also families in search of unusual getaways.
In the 18th century, there were many paper mills in Montmorillon all along the river Gartempe, all of which have now disappeared. The city was later renowned for its Rossignol posters, familiar to teachers and students in the 1950s and 1960s (=educational booklets and wall maps).
