The Flower and Bird paradise in Availles-Limouzine
The Flower and Bird paradise, also known as “The Garden of the 5 Senses”
This garden covers 3000m² and has more than 1300 varieties of plants. It was created by a nature lover
who wanted to create an English-style landscaped garden.
You can find shrubs, flower beds, perennials, trees, roses (more than 150), ponds and aromatic herbs in this
It is maintained and cultivated using entirely natural methods. It is eco-friendly: no pesticides or weedkillers are used, just Bordeaux mixture, black soap and vinegar. Everything is protected and respected, which creates an environment rich in flora and fauna. Many animals find shelter here, especially birds. The garden is recognized as an LPO (League for the
Protection of Birds) refuge. In cold weather, sometimes over 150 birds come into the garden to eat berries.
The garden is full of life all year round; its colours and scents change with the seasons.
The owner's desire to make this garden her own is what gives it an atmosphere of well-being and natural balance.
Tips for the Sud-Vienne-Poitou: admire the "GINKO BELOBA" tree, regarded as a historic species dating from 270 million years ago, which also survived Hiroshima.
That little extra something : another interesting feature is a collection of porcelain coffee makers with over 400 different designs; they are all on display in the conservatory, but this year some will be on show in the garden.
